Yep, which is basically worse that what the failed SOPA brought to the table. It's basically it on steroids, no question about it. It's pretty much a guarantee that the copyright cartel are going to be on a mission to get these type of laws implemented globally, and they might get their wish since most politicians don't even know what the Internet is!

Also, the tax link is so dumb that now bloggers and smaller news sites (like Techdirt and Boing Boing) are going to be shut down because they can't risk it in terms of liability.

In addition, this will make the tech giants, the so called GAFAMS even more powerful because they can afford to fight this. Most of the smaller ones can't.

I can see similar laws spreading to other nations including the US (maybe a SOPA 3.0).

What makes it worse is that most of the media decided to ignore this the whole way. The only sources that I got aside from Julia Reda and the EFF for almost a year on the directive were Techdirt and Boing Boing. What a failure of journalism if you think about it.

Major congrats!

Today is a truly dark day in the history of the Internet as the European Union has voted to kill the open Internet with the help of corporate lobbyists. [motherboard.vice.com]

I fear for the future when censorship will reign supreme and you can thank Big Publishing, Big Telecom, Big Tech, Big Media, Big Music , and Hollywood for rubber stamping this.

Hello! Come back soon.

Yep, and I feel we're going to see more of this as hardware sales continue to decline and slowly but surely, a full pivot to services will be complete.

Today's event was a vindication of Apple being a luxury lifestyle company no question although we all knew it for a couple of years now.

And remember, Tim Cook isn't going to be around forever so that privacy talk is all that it really is: talk.

There will be a time where Apple is going to share that information to third parties just like everyone else.
