@matigo
Hey @matigo, This message came up when I updated Nextcloud today. Can you take a look at it?
Henri is widely approaching and it could be heading my way. Planning to be less online tomorrow just for precautionary reasons….
Nice day with a long time friend of mine that I haven't seen in 18 months. Good to catch up on a lot of things!
@matigo It's more that the banks that payment processors have merchant accounts with that are blockers. But for Visa and Mastercard it represents more risk, since this area has more fraud, possibility of blending into illegal activity, and banking partners angry with them.
Porn has more fraud traditionally, so the entire category is considered high risk. TBH not entirely sure why banks care so much, Wells Fargo and Capital One are infamously 100% against it so Stripe can't process adult content.
One thing is for sure though: cryptocurrency-powered porn platforms are coming because there's no way they'll touch centralized payments. PornHub's already done it.
@jws Not only that, but it's a way for regular folks (mostly marginalized) to make money especially during the worst months of the pandemic when most people lost their jobs and it was their survival check.
These groups did this to Tumblr and PornHub too although PornHub has cryptocurrency as only payments now. Speaking of which, crypto-powered porn platforms are going to happen since there's no way they'll touch centralized payments.
Plan to head to a friend's city tomorrow or Friday depending on the weather. Been since 2019 that I last saw them.
A bit tired, but a nice tour of the city of Poughkeepsie NY which I haven't been to in a long time.
