There's always self-hosting and I heard Squarespace has a audio option. But yeah, not much alternatives if you want to share right away. Do have to negotiate with those giants. That's what we intend to lose if SoundCloud goes belly up in 5 months unless they can turn it around.

I have challenges to self-hosting as well, but someway, I have to get the hang of it since the upside is you fully control that content instead of the other way around.
