@matigo New companies isn't going through the pipeline due to the fact that the incumbents are taking over a lot of markets and potential investors are thinking twice about giving startups money. Plus you have lobbying from them to governments in order to stop them from even starting up. Sad sight but governments need to do something. We'll see how they come up.

@matigo The problem is that the EU for years have problems of their own promoting local tech even adding to the fire that the copyright directive they passed last year would be fatal to the companies there.
@matigo That's by design as they along with others like Charter and Verizon have captured not only federal but also state governments to prevent competitors from taking place via municipal/community efforts. That will continue into the next decade or so until people and government officials realize that it's corruption that's to blame for the continued digital divide in the US.
